It looks like Apple’s often-rumoured augmented reality glasses (AR) are still in the works and could launch in 2020, according to noted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and the Economic Daily Times.
Kuo predicts that rather than a standalone device like Microsoft’s recently announced HoloLens 2, Apple’s AR glasses will operate as an iPhone accessory. That said, the AR glasses will feature its own display, network card and built-in position tracking. It seems the glasses will utilize the processing power of Apple’s smartphone, similar to the LG 360 VR that released alongside the G5 smartphone back in 2016.
Apple’s AR efforts so far have been confined to ARKit and its successor ARKit 2.0, the tech giant’s development framework for augmented reality experiences on the iPhone and iPad.
Rumours that Apple is working on some sort of AR headset have been swirling since a Bloomberg report that surfaced way back in 2017.
At the time, the publication also wrote that the headset would run on a new operating ..

WATERTON, Alta. — It will take years before researchers are able to determine the overall impact a devastating wildfire had on species in Alberta's Waterton Lakes National Park, but an annual bird count is providing reason for optimism.
The count in which members of the public tally the number of birds and their species has been a tradition for more than 40 years.
Annual counts done across North America between Dec. 14 and Jan. 5 are co-ordinated by Bird Studies Canada in conjunction with the U.S. National Audubon Society, which began the practice in 1900.
Birders in the national park found 15 species and a total of 163 individual birds on one day, with a total of 21 species for the week.
“The results were pretty much on par with averages and fluctuations that take place in the winter over the years here in Waterton,” said ecosystem scientist Kim Pearson.
On average, 27 species have been recorded on count day, with the lowest being 12 species in 2013. Pearson said the n..
Google’s secretive Fuchsia OS is designed to work with a wide variety of devices, including IoT, phones and even more traditional computers like the Pixelbook.
As such, the Fuchsia development team is continuously testing on new devices, including some newly released Chromebooks with AMD processors. This includes the HP Chromebook 14 and Acer Chromebook 315.
9to5Google spotted a recent code change submitted to the Chromium Gerrit — an online tool for developers to collaborate on and review code before merging it — that would allow Fuchsia to work on these Chromebooks.
Essentially, the code change allows AMD-powered Chromebooks on the ‘Grunt’ board to boot Fuchsia’s Zircon kernel. That kernel serves as the foundation of the operating system. Typically, the ability to boot into other operating systems is blocked by default on Chromebooks. Some devices, like the Pixelbook and Pixel Slate, do allow multiple OS installations on a single device.
Interestingly, the developer behind the change..
